Chandrapur city is located on south central region of India in Maharashtra state. Chandrapur has a population of approx 3.75 lakhs. It is about 150 km from Nagpur, which is two and a half hours' journey by rail on Delhi-Madras route via Nagpur. Nearest airport is at Sonegaon (140 km) from the city.

Having Super Thermal Power Station, the largest one in India, Chandrapur city is enriched with different minerals. Coal, Timbers, Tendu Leaves and other forest produces are main resources of this region. Summers are very hot and winters are chilly.

mahakali mandir
Goddess Mahakali Temple is very famous and old temple in Chandrpur. In the month of April on Hanuman Jayanti thousands of pilgrimage come from different parts of the India. In hot summer days people queued for the worship of Mahakali Mata. At least four to five hours they are queued for the Mata's Darshan. Ancient Caves:
There are nine ancient caves dating back to the eighth century in Chandrapur. It is believed that the caves were first carved out somewhere during the 8th century. Buddhist monks later used these caves. A large number of Buddhist sculptures can be seen engraved in these caves.

Chaprala Wildlife Sanctuary:
Chaprala Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 134.78 sq km. The main attraction of this sanctuary is Giant Indian Squirrels. Best Time to visit this sanctuary is February to May. Prashand Dham at Chaprala, Chaprala Temple, and Markanda Temple are not far from this sanctuary.

Nearest railway station is at Ballarpur (70 km) on Delhi Madras main line, while nearest airport is at Sonegaon Nagpur (243 km) via Chandrapur. Nearest bus station is at Chandrapur (85 km).
 
 Ghora Jhari Development Scheme:

This lake is Situated in Nagbhir tehsil. It is 6 km from the main Nagpur - Chandrapur highway, 106 km from Chandrapur town and 97 km  from Nagpur. The capacity of the reservoir is 45 cusecs of water.

Junona Development Scheme:

This is the spot 15 km away from  Chandrapur Town. The facilities for boating, restaurants, parks and garden well developed.

Warora town has come into prominence due to location of the "Anandvan  Ashram". Tourists Places At Bhadravati

Bhadravati Temple:

This ancient temple is situated at is situated in the heart of the city. Devotees throng the temple throughout the year.

Jain Temple:

This temple in the town is very popular with the community. It has very beautiful sculptures. This temple is located as Bhadravati village. It is 32 kilometers from Chandrapur town on Central Railways. This temple is said to be extremely old, but exact period when it was built is not known. There are several other idols in the temples, which were recovered in digging the earth.

Ganesh Temple:

This is also an ancient temple and is visited by large number of devotees throughout the year. The temple architecture and sculptures are major tourist attraction.
